Gated Communities Los Angeles

In a recent article featured in New York Magazine, Alec Baldwin stated his intention to abandon New York City. Citing his need for privacy, he stated that he was considering moving his family to one of Los Angeles’s gated communities.

The gated communities of Los Angeles are famous for their security, privacy and luxury, and in a recent article in LA Confidential Magazine many of the most coveted of Los Angeles’s luxury communities were highlighted.

The most prestigious gated community in Los Angeles is North Beverly Park in the Beverly Hills Post Office area just north of Beverly Hills.

Beverly Park is designed along the compound within a compound model that has become so popular among buyers that desire the security of a patrolled, secure community as well as the privacy of a multi-acre Beverly Hills estate that is considered paparazzi proof.

To protect and enhance its reputation Beverly Park makes a concerted effort with its strict building requirements. The lots are oversized, no house can be below 5,000 square feet and many are well in excess of that number, there are two manned gatehouses guarding each entrance, and lots can be in excess of 20 acres – a rarity in the dense Los Angeles real estate market.

Exclusivity, security and privacy make Beverly Park one of the top choices among gated communities in Los Angeles for the very wealthy and the very famous. Such notables as Samuel L Jackson, Sylvester Stallone, Magic Johnson and Rod Stewart call Beverly Park home.

The LA Confidential Article mentions two more luxury enclaves that excel in providing the security and privacy – as well as top notch amenities and homes – that discerning buyers demand: Fremont Place and Malibu Colony.

Fremont Place is located adjacent to Hancock Park and boasts a park-like setting with 73 homes built between 1900 and 1920. These historic Hancock Park homes have retained their value throughout the years and have been meticulously maintained and updated. Homes in Fremont Place sit on oversized lots and the community is guarded and gated.

Malibu Colony has the advantage of a beachfront location, and many of the homes here have sand in their backyards. Malibu Colony’s chief advantage, besides its status as a guarded and gated community, is its location which means that homes in this community retain their value in even the harshest of markets. Homes in Malibu are valued at the priciest and hardest to come by selling for between $3,000 and $4,000 per foot.

In addition to the luxury, gated communities mentioned in this article, there are many more similar enclaves scattered throughout Los Angeles that have much to offer to the discerning buyer such as Mulholland Estates and the Summit in Beverly Hills Post Office, Brentwood Circle, Brentwood Country Estates & Brentwood Mountaingate in the Brentwood area and The Oaks and Laughlin Park in Los Feliz to name a few.

The services of a local, established Los Angeles Realtor is essential if you wish to view and purchase a home in one of these exclusive Los Angeles gated communities. Many times these homes never reach the open market and the celebrities who own these homes are very particular about who they let inside. A local LA Realtor like myself who has a strong agent networks will be your ticket into these exclusive Los Angeles gated communities and other luxury homes for sale in Los Angeles.
