BEVERLY HILLS MANSION FLEUR DELYS SELLS FOR $102 MILLION

After 7 years of trying to sell the famous Fleur de Lys Beverly Hills mansion the market has finally delivered a record breaking $102 million for the most expensive single family home purchase in Los Angeles County beating out the previous record holder Gary Winnick’s $94 million purchase of David Murdock’s Bel Air Estate and pushing to 3rd place the sale of Candy Spelling, The Manor, for $85 million to Formula One’s racing heiress Petra Ecclestone.

Back in 2011 when Petra Ecclestone was house hunting my real estate sources confirm that Fleur de Lys her first choice. Petra actually placed a bid of $85 million on Fleur de Lys, but they could not agree on price and she ended up buying Candy Spelling’s Manor instead. Apparently Suzanne Saperstein’s patience paired off to the tune of $17 million extra bucks over 2 years.

It is rumored that the Beverly Hills Estate sold in a fierce bidding war between 3 billionaires just days after it hit the market in mid March. The winner is reportedly former junk bond trader Michael Milken who paid all cash and closed escrow in less than 2 weeks.

Seller, Swedish socialite Suzanne Saperstein and her ex-husband, businessman David Saperstein had the 12 bedroom and 15 bathroom mansion totaling 50,000sf custom built in 2002. This opulent Beverly Hills mansion inspired by Louis XIV’s Palace of Versailles is sited on over 4 acres of land and includes 2 kitchens, a 50 person screening room, formal ballroom accommodating 200 guests, tennis courts, jogging track, fitness facilities and extravagant swimming pool complex.

I have had the pleasure of attending several of Suzanne’s parties and they are lavish indeed! Hopefully the new owner will continue the tradition of celebrating this one of a kind estate.
