Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin purchase Los Angeles Mansion in Brentwood

los angeles luxury homesActress Gwyneth Paltrow and husband musician Chris Martin of ColdPlay have just closed escrow on a stunning Los Angeles mansion in Brentwood that once graced the cover of Veranda magazine. The couple picked up the home for $9,950,000, about $500,000 less than the current asking price of $10.45 million. The property first hit the market last year for $11.96 million.

The home was built new as a concept house by designer Windsor Smith. The so-called, Ā “House of Windsor” was featured in Veranda Magazine and showcases rooms by multiple L.A. designers including Candace Barnes, Peter Dunham and Kathryn Ireland. The kitchen, however, was designed by Smith, who explained to the L.A. Times, that kitchens are the new living rooms. Her design includes Calacatta marble countertops, a deep farmhouse sink and enormous dining table surrounded by mismatched chairs.

Located in L.A.’s Mandeville Canyon, the estate’s grounds feature lush landscaping: sprawling lawns, venerable oaks and shady sycamores. Horse stables and a paddock are also on the property. With 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, the 8,000-square-foot home has more than enough room for Martin, Paltrow, their two children and perhaps the rest of the Coldplay band.

Paltrow and Martin have been married since 2003 and also own several properties in London including Kate Winslet’s former home. Although Paltrow is primarily best known for her roles in film, the actress has recently branched out to other pursuits, starting lifestyle website goop.com and publishing a cookbook.
