Los Feliz/Silver Lake New Pedestrian Plaza

Just in time for spring a new pedestrian plaza located in the Los Feliz/Silver Lake area called Sunset Triangle Plaza officially opened to the public!  The only real estate in Los Angeles of its kind covers nearly two blocks of Griffith Park Blvd between Sunset Blvd, Maltman Ave and Edge Cliff Drive.  To follow in line with the existing grassy triangle the streets nearby were closed off and painted green with polka dots to claim the section where potted planters, movable tables, chairs and umbrellas occupy the area for patrons to enjoy.

The Sunset Triangle Plaza was created by Streets For People (S4P)an organization that offers a cost efficient and time expedient approach to creating public plazas out of underutilized portions of our streets and designed by Frank Clementi of Rio’s Clementi Hale Studios (they’re also designing Downtown’s Civic Park).  The Plaza’s inspiration comes from the successful pedestrian plazas located in New York and San Francisco and will be in pilot mode for about a year and possibly beyond if it proves popular.

This is Los Angeles first Pedestrian Plaza and with the increasing demand for a more safe and welcoming streets, residents can now play, walk, run, bicycle and rest.
